But when fellow scientists Watson and Crick find out about her groundbreaking discoveries, her work is suddenly not her own -- and shortly thereafter they claim credit for a major breakthrough. A compelling drama about a woman's life in a man's world, Photograph 51 asks how we become who we become, and whether we have the power to change.

HANSEL AND GRETEL EAT CRABS:
One magic-laden night on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, two young girls become lost in the wetlands. A musical fantasy of BEAUTY, abandonment, cannibalism, triumph and a parent’s worst fears. Written by Mary Resing with music by Andy Welchel, directed by Patrick Crowley, dramaturged by Jacqueline E. Lawton, featuring Kirsten Benjamin, Jillian Locklear, Jennie Lutz, Ashley Robinson, Brian Rubiano, Terry Spann and Anu Yadav.
Produced January 25th - February 11th, 2007, HANSEL AND GRETEL EAT CRABS was Active Cultures’ first full work for the stage. An early version of H&G was presented to the public on September 4, 2006, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Art’s Page to Stage Festival. EXTREME EXCHANGE:
For the past year, Active Cultures has actively partnered with the political theatre group Extreme Exchange. In that time, Active Cultures has produced two short works for Extreme Exchange’s X-play Series: TWO WOMEN and THE DEVIL’S SWEET WATER.
THE DEVIL’S SWEET WATER was Active Cultures’ contribution to Extreme Exchange Edition Three: Dreams and Nightmares for America—A Halloween Election. Written by Jacqueline E. Lawton, directed by Patrick Crowley, dramaturged by Mary Resing and featuring Danielle Drake, James Johnson and Ginger Moss. This play, performed at Round House Theatre on October 30, 2006, looked at the effect of America’s fear of terrorism on the relationship of three friends in the aftermath of 9/11.
TWO WOMEN was Active Culture’s contribution to Extreme Exchange Edition two: Iraq. Written and directed by Mary Resing, dramaturged by Jacqueline Lawton, with Ginger Moss and Jacqueline E. Lawton. Performed at Round House Theatre in July 2006. At an ob/gyny clinic on a North Carolina Marine base, two women examine the special responsibilities of a woman married to a hero.
